A letter from one of our many student successes...

Dear Shepherd Foundation, I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the financial support to receive a top notch Catholic Education. I have been blessed with Shepherd Foundation Tuition Assistance throughout my high school career at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School.

After attending public schools through the 8th grade, I was accepted to Good Counsel as a Freshman in the class of 2008. I very much wanted to experience attending a Catholic High School and be amongst other students who shared my Catholic faith and values. Upon admission, neither myself nor my parents were sure how we would be able to afford the tuition costs attached to that acceptance (since I am the oldest of 5 children).

However, through the tuition assistance from the generous donors of the Shepherd Foundation, I was afforded the opportunity to accept my admission and make the very most of that opportunity. I chose to set my goals high. So freshman year, I decided that if I worked hard in the classroom and on the lacrosse field, I might be considered as a recruit to attend the United States Naval Academy; as well as to play Lacrosse for the Navy Lacrosse Team. After much hard work and determination, I began to receive recruiting letters from the Naval Academy Lacrosse Team after my Sophomore year (upon completion of being a starting midfielder during my first year as a Varsity Lacrosse player for Good Counsel’s Men’s Lacrosse Team). I was truly excited!

I continued to work hard both in the classroom and on the field. Finally, after the end of my Junior year, I was offered a full scholarship to attend the United States Naval Academy Prepatory School (NAPS) as a Midshipman Candidate. Upon graduation from NAPS (May 15, 2009), I will attend the U.S. Naval Academy in June of 2009 as a Midshipman.

I very much want to thank the Shepherd Foundation for your generous gift of an amazing education and for affording me the opportunity to receive a Catholic Education at Our Lady of Good Counsel High School.
