How to Request an Extraordinary Grant
We’ve deliberately tried to make the application process simple. There is no lengthy grant application. There is no complicated portal. There isn’t a specific application window.
A request should come from the principal or head of school—or from someone you designate, such as your financial-aid or business-office representative. Simply email the request to info@theshepherdfoundation.org
In the email, please give us:
The student’s initials and grade level — initials help us protect the family’s privacy.
A brief description of the family’s circumstances and why assistance is needed.
School’s total annual tuition, books, fees, etc.
Amount the family is able to contribute.
Financial aid or other assistance already being provided by the school, the Archdiocese, or other sources.
The specific amount you are requesting from The Shepherd Foundation.
For context, our average tuition grant is approximately $2,500 per student per year. Some grants will be smaller and some larger, depending upon the circumstances and our available resources.
We also want schools to understand that Extraordinary Grants are not automatically renewed from one year to the next. If a family continues to need help in a subsequent school year, please submit a new request so we can consider the family’s current circumstances along with the other needs before us.
When Should You Apply?
Whenever the need arises. Family emergencies don’t follow a school calendar, and neither does our grant process. If something happens in October, contact us in October. If something happens in January, contact us in January. If a family suddenly finds itself in trouble in March, don’t wait until the next school year. Contact us.
